Most people don't wonder why the eggs they get at the store are so uniform in size and color; they just assume that's how they come. So when they run across a "funky" egg, it's usually a big surprise. On this page I've tried to present a broad sampling of some of the weird eggs chickens can (and do) lay, especially when they're young.
Some eggs have color variations, which can produce this mottled look.
This is a shell-less egg. They feel rubbery when you pick them up, but are perfectly OK to eat.
This is a two-tone egg, just as it was laid.
A wrinkled shell-less egg.
A rare egg inside an egg.
Scrambled-inside-the-shell egg.
